Staff Information - 2010

You'll treasure these memories for a lifetime

We are looking forward to seeing everyone this year at our annual camp. The Rotary Club Youth Camp is the finest facility around and we are very fortunate to have this incredible opportunity to have the time of our lives. To all of you who will be participating for the first time, I can promise you a truly wonderful experience. Through swimming, fishing, archery, crafts and evening campfires you will build lasting friendships with the campers and your peer counselors. The Joshua Center staff worked very hard to receive the American Camping Association accreditation and annual training is required.

  • Complete the necessary forms and return to Joshua Center by June 1st: Staff Application, if new; Health History if new or any changes from last year; Voluntary Disclosure Statements and Releases. We are required to do background checks.

  • All staff must complete a health form. A physical is required for all new staff members and every 24 months for returning staff members. They must be completed and signed by a physician.

  • We appreciate volunteers. For all paid counselors the salary is $300 for the entire camp program, including the camp training the day before camp starts.

  • T-shirts are provided free to all campers and adults - BUT - you must email Becky at becky@joshuacenter.com with your size by June 1st. Those of you who are coming quite a distance and have your child with you please call the Joshua Center so we can plan for you child. You will receive a counselor handbook at camp that includes: the entire camp schedule, camp rules and regulations, emergency procedures, and pertinent camper information.

  • Our administrative staff is here to help you in any way we can. During your break the Joshua Center therapist will be available to discuss concerns you may have about these children. We know these children are challenging and thank you for accepting that challenge. You have a 2 hour break in the afternoon to do as you please, but you may not leave the camp grounds. You will leave camp with a special feeling that you have indeed had an impact on a child’s life.

  • You and your co-cabin counselors will stay with your group during the entire camp week. This will give each camper a chance to know you better. We will provide some drinks and snacks for all staff at the Administration Bldg., but feel free to bring additional ones.

  • If any staff is certified in CPR I need a copy of your card by June 1st. I look forward to working with all of you.

  • Mandatory Training: Twenty-four hours mandatory training is required by the American Camping Association.

I thank you all for helping us change children’s lives. Please call with any questions.
