Board Games
Changing Children’s
Lives
One Game
at a Time
The
Joshua Center began offering Social
Skills in 2007 after a large number
of parents requested we offer them.
We started out with two classes and
now have over 10 at the Joshua
Center. We recently expanded to
other areas of the community. As our
kids progressed to high school we
started Life Skills classes for
students in 9th—12th grades.
We
soon realized that board games
helped the kids in many ways: taking
turns, winning and losing, sharing,
communication, etc. We spent a great
deal of time and money researching
and purchasing board games only to
be disappointed every time. So in
2008 we started designing our own.
All of our situation cards are from
real life experiences of the
students we have been working with
over the past few years. The
students are the best teachers in
the world. All games were designed
with a specific social skill
objective geared to their students’
interests.
The
Joshua Center board games are sold
in pairs: two 20” x 20”
pre-determined compatible games
back-to-back. All supplies
included.

Becky,
The games are great. So glad to have
them. I have shown them to two other
counselors, and they agree the
situations on the cards are fitting
for high school. I will be using
them with students who need some
social skills help. Thanks for being
such a great resource in our
community. My daughter and I played
them over the weekend and she
enjoyed them.
Update: I have decided to buy some
more because I really like the first
set we bought!
