What an incredible event we had in September. Thanks to everyone for helping to make it so great. If you ever have the chance to meet one of the members of the Kansas City Businessmen’s Club thank them for all their support. The Joshua Center would not be able to help all of our families without them.

Empowering Our Children |
The mission of Empowering our Children, Inc. is to provide education and advice to parents of children and adolescents who are affected by behavioral, emotional, neurological, or social disabilities. The main medium for delivery of this mission is a one hour, interactive, weekly radio program now broadcast in three markets: KCTE 1510 in the Kansas City metro and KVTA 1520 on the central coast of California (Ventura). Empowering Our Children is hosted by Dr. Stephen Blum, a leading psychologist, who interviews child mental health experts from throughout the country with the goal of helping our listeners better understand the nature, causes, and treatment of these disabilities. These experts will provide advice, education, and consultation in response to listener’s questions. In addition to the radio program, the mission will be further accomplished through educational and resource materials developed by Empowering Our Children, Inc. In addition, the website, empoweringourchildren.com, is updated with our broadcasts, so families can access our expertise anytime. To access programming go to www.empoweringourchildren.com. This program was started by one of our families. You see, one person can make a difference.

Parent Support Groups |
If I have learned nothing else in raising Josh I have learned that you cannot do this alone. I learned so much over the years talking to other parents. It’s the little things that make a difference and it’s finding out that your experiences are the same as others. Sometimes you feel all alone. Let’s laugh and cry together and help each other. If you would like to meet for lunch first at Sweet Tomatoes (across the street from the Joshua Center) just email Becky at beckyjc@kc.rr.com. The Joshua Center Parent Support Group meets from 1-3pm the second Saturday of each month. J
